including if they were born in the UK during your stay<\/li>\n<li>your child over 18 if they\u2019re currently in the UK as your dependent<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=&#8221;transparent&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Your partner<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=&#8221;transparent&#8221; up=&#8221;10&#8243; down=&#8221;5&#8243;][vc_column_text]<strong>You must be able to prove that either:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>you\u2019re in a civil partnership or marriage that\u2019s recognized in the UK<\/li>\n<li>you\u2019ve been living together in a relationship for at least 2 years when you apply<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=&#8221;transparent&#8221; up=&#8221;10&#8243; down=&#8221;10&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h4><strong>child &#8211; 16 or over<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=&#8221;transparent&#8221; up=&#8221;10&#8243; down=&#8221;5&#8243;][vc_column_text]<strong>They must:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>live with you (unless they\u2019re in full-time education at boarding school, college or university)<\/li>\n<li>not be married, in a civil partnership or have any children<\/li>\n<li>be financially supported by you<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;363&#8243; up=&#8221;10&#8243; down=&#8221;10&#8243;][vc_column_text]Your partner and children must have a certain amount of money available to support themselves while they\u2019re in the UK.[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=&#8221;transparent&#8221; up=&#8221;5&#8243; down=&#8221;5&#8243;][vc_column_text]<strong>You\u2019ll usually need to show proof of this when they apply, unless either:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>you have all been in the UK with a valid visa for at least 12 months<\/li>\n<li>your employer can cover your family\u2019s costs during your first month in the UK &#8211; this must be confirmed on your certificate of sponsorship<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=&#8221;transparent&#8221; up=&#8221;5&#8243; down=&#8221;5&#8243;][vc_column_text]If your partner or child is applying at a different time to you, they\u2019ll only need to prove they have enough money to support themselves if they have been in the UK for less than 1 year.[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=&#8221;transparent&#8221; up=&#8221;10&#8243; down=&#8221;10&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3>Proving their identity<\/h3>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=&#8221;transparent&#8221; up=&#8221;10&#8243; down=&#8221;5&#8243;][vc_column_text]As part of their application, your partner and children will need to prove their identity.[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=&#8221;transparent&#8221; up=&#8221;5&#8243; down=&#8221;5&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3>How long it takes to get a decision<\/h3>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=&#8221;transparent&#8221; up=&#8221;10&#8243; down=&#8221;5&#8243;][vc_column_text]Once they\u2019ve applied online, proved their identity and provided their documents, they\u2019ll usually get a decision within 3 weeks.[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=&#8221;transparent&#8221; up=&#8221;5&#8243; down=&#8221;5&#8243;][vc_column_text]They may be able to pay to get their visa faster or use other services depending on which country they\u2019re in check with the visa application center.[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=&#8221;transparent&#8221; up=&#8221;10&#8243; down=&#8221;10&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Apply from inside the UK (extend or switch their visa)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=&#8221;transparent&#8221; up=&#8221;10&#8243; down=&#8221;5&#8243;][vc_column_text]Apply for your partner or child\u2019s visa at the same time as you\u00a0apply to extend\u00a0or\u00a0switch your own visa. This includes children who were born or have turned 18 during your stay.[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=&#8221;transparent&#8221; up=&#8221;5&#8243; down=&#8221;5&#8243;][vc_column_text]Your partner or children cannot apply to switch to your Skilled Worker visa as your dependents if they are currently in the UK:[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=&#8221;transparent&#8221;
